The e-skills NTO, in collaboration with employers and education, has been working on developing a range of vocational qualifications and training programmes to meet the current skill needs of the industry.

These qualifications and training programmes are based on the National Occupational Standards and Statements of Competence set by the e-skills NTO on behalf of industry.

These Standards represent best practice in the IT community and cover the full spectrum of activities in the following areas:

• Using Information Technology
• IT & Electronic Services
• Developing IT Systems

While academic and vendor qualifications concentrate on the acquisition of knowledge on a particular subject, vocational qualifications and programmes are based on demonstrating this knowledge and skills on-the-job, which means that the ones complement the others.
