Vocational Qualifications
The Standards underpin the National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) in England and Wales and the Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) in Scotland. NVQs/SVQs define what employees do in their jobs, based on practical skills demonstrated in the workplace. They help to validate and build on the technical but also personal and inter-personal skills that are vital to the sector.
The IT NVQs/SVQs from the former ITNTO (for users and professionals across sectors of industry) and the IT Services NVQ/SVQs from the former e-business.nto (for professionals in the IT Services industry) have been brought together in the e-skills NTO qualifications Map (

The new
IT Systems Support (ITSS) Technician
qualification has also been developed in collaboration with industry and education. The ITSS Technician qualification underpins the IT Services NVQ/SVQs, in particular the NVQ/SVQ Level 2 in Customer Systems Support. It is awarded by City & Guilds (C&G reference 6965_02).
