Encourage your employees to have-a-go at Hothouse.comp!
e-skills NTO leads e-competitions, the focus organisation for quality IT competitions that support education and training. (Go to www.e-competitions.org.uk for details.) One of e-competitions most popular initiatives, the IBM sponsored Hothouse.comp, is currently promoting its 2001 programme.

Hothouse.comp (at local heat level) is a 2-hour Using IT competition in which competitors fulfil a role within a given business scenario that involves the input, manipulation, output, presentation and communication of information. The competition is run in-house by VI forms, colleges, universities and businesses, for students and/or staff, as a fun, assessment or CPD exercise. Finalists compete at the Hothouse - IBM's state of the art training centre in Farnborough - and their efforts are rewarded with valuable IT prizes.

National Training Awards
The National Training Awards (NTAs) are the most sought after awards for training in the UK. Entry is free and the prestige of winning is considerable. The Awards are won by employers and individuals who demonstrate excellence in their use of training and development to bring business success.

The process of entering is valuable in itself as it helps businesses examine the way they operate and how effective their training programme is. For many entrants, the first step towards entering the National Training Awards is attending one of the workshops, which are run throughout the UK.

NTAs are promoted by the Department for Education and Employment (DfEE) as part of its Lifelong Learning strategy. The deadline for entering is 18 May 2001.

For further information, visit the NTAs website at www.NationalTrainingAwards.com

E-skills Strategic Plan
Under the industry-wide leadership of the NTO Boards, a three-year strategic plan is being created to unite employers, educators and government around a common set of priorities. The draft plan is available on this site and consultation was open until 22 February 2001. We would like to thank all those who took this opportunity to give their feedback. The final copy of the plan will be available at the end of March.
