Assessment of IT Trainers for the Microsoft MCT Certificate
The e-skills NTO offer assessment services for the Microsoft Certified Trainer Certificate (MCT).
The assessment covers the IT trainer's instructional skills only, not technical abilities which are covered elsewhere by Microsoft.
The successful results of this instructional assessment can be used by the trainer as part of his/her portfolio for obtaining MCT certification. Upon successful completion of both technical and instructional assessments the trainer will receive the certificate for Microsoft Certified Trainer.
It is expected that such assessment will occur in the work place of the trainer and in the case of freelance candidates, special arrangements for location can be made.

To provide a service to training organisations and individuals for the assessment of IT training skills, (not technical content) specifically for candidates for the Microsoft Certified Trainer Certificate (MCT)

To provide an assessment strategy based upon the NVQ standards for Training and Development Level 3, whilst relating to the IBSTPI ( International Board of Standards for Training, Performance and Instruction) standards for Instructor Competencies

To promote the NVQ as a progression route

To provide feedback to the individual, the training organisation and at quarterly intervals, Microsoft

To provide quality assurance process
Candidate requirements

The topic of the observed IT session will be selected by the candidate
-
The candidate to give at least 45 minutes of instruction, including practical exercises

The candidate to organise class members comprising of at least 6 people
Successful Outcomes

Assessment of instructional skills according to an e-skills NTO programme structured according to the Training and Development NVQ (the assessment will not address technical aspects)

Guidance on future areas for development, linking into the NVQ structure for Training and Development in particular showing how evidence from the assessment can help the NVQ process
