What is the qualification about?
The rapid expansion in electronics, networking and software systems over the last few years has caused dramatic growth in the need for people with relevant and up-to-date IT Services skills to implement, exploit and maintain these technology solutions.
The IT Systems Support Technician qualification provides the knowledge and skills to understand, install, maintain and troubleshoot software and hardware, as well as the necessary inter-personal skills to work with customers.
On successful completion of the course and assessment, the candidate will be awarded the IT Systems Support Technician qualification (Progression Award Level 2) by City & Guilds.
The course has been specifically designed to provide the underpinning knowledge for further vocational training in the IT Services sector, notably for the NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) in IT Services - Customer Systems Support, Level 2, and for training programmes, such as Modern Apprenticeships.
The next level qualification, IT Systems Support Professional, which will underpin the NVQ in IT Services - Customer Systems Support Level 3, is currently under development.
