A/AS Level in Computing

In September 2000, changes to the post-16 curriculum made it easier to study a range of subjects and to combine traditional A level study with vocational subjects. Key skills are now also an important part of A level study and students can expect to gain qualifications in Communication, IT & Application of Number. You normally study for A/AS levels in sixth forms and FE colleges over two years:

Year 1

  • Students take four or five subjects to AS or Advanced Subsidiary level and gain a qualification for each subject they pass

Year 2

  • The second year is called A2 and students normally carry on with two or three of their subjects for full A level qualifications
