Careers & Qualifications

Introduction

This section of the e-skills NTO website is for anyone interested in a career in IT. The information is relevant to:

  • Young people seeking their first job or training course
  • Anyone studying at school or college
  • Anyone returning to work after a career break
  • People interested in a career change
  • People interested in self-employment
  • Those interested in tele-working and other forms of flexible employment
  • Careers advisers, teachers and parents

Please note that e-skills NTO is not able to provide a Careers Advisory Service.

If you are still at school you should talk to your Careers Teacher or Careers Adviser. If you are at University you should contact your own Careers Advisory Service.

The following leaflets (in PDF format) will give you only a brief and partial picture of careers in IT. They are currently under review by the NTO. We therefore strongly recommend you go through the pages available under this "Careers & Qualifications" section online for more up-to-date, comprehensive and detailed information.

  • A guide to a career in Information Technology
  • A guide to a career in IT and Electronic Services
  • A guide to a career Using IT
  • A guide to a career Developing IT Systems
