Kalahari UK Ltd a software house developing, selling and supporting pricing software to banks and brokers in the City of London and world-wide.

Placement Duties
Oliver undertook some file/system changes for customers and was able to go out to customer sites with support staff. His main task, however, was the development of a reporting mechanism on who had logged onto the Kalahari Web Site. This involved review of raw data file on URLs logged onto the site, creation of a spreadsheet and development, test and set up of several macros. He also set up an Access database with tables, queries and report facilities.

Relevance of GNVQ studies

Chris Collins, Kalahari Support Manager comments on the skills Oliver was able to bring to the organisation:
Knowledge of Excel and Access were essential to the task. Oliver learnt and built on his existing knowledge during the placement
Oliver completed all of the projects objectives or as much as makes no odds. His initiative was such that Oliver was able to undertake many tasks on his own, but knew when it was necessary to take reference/check points.
Oliver communicated well both with the Support Department and the Managing Director whose original task this project was.
It was an excellent task completed for which Kalahari did not currently have the resources, and will save a significant amount of time.
